Voice....where are you?

I'm still searching for my artistic "voice". Great advice came from a friend who is making a real living with her art. She said, "In the beginning, take as many classes and workshops as you can".....so you can take bits and pieces of each one and put it together in a style all your own. My "voice" will come through all of these experiences. That is exactly what I am trying to do. I just completed a class today by local artist, Barb Starner, that was so unlike anything that I have done so far. The picture is a painting I did from this workshop. It was such a great opportunity to learn a fascinating technique!

On Monday, I will begin "Get Your Paint On": A five week painting class with Lisa Congdon and Mati McDonough. I am really excited about the next 5 weeks and all that I will learn besides connecting with other artists and sharing our work.

Seriously....

Seriously, I thought something was wrong with me! Turns out I just needed a good dose of Vitamin D. It was sunny today and 70!! I went outside and stayed to soak it all up. I really am ready to go somewhere warm....really warm.....even HOT and stay for awhile. Is it Spring Fever already???

This painting was done last year with a friend of mine, N. We painted together using a napkin for inspiration and had a great time! N, you are such a great encourager to me.....Thanks!! The scene in this painting is exactly where I want to be spending my time very soon.

Seeing through Red colored glasses

Lately, I have been reminiscing about some beautiful lifelong friends. Sisters who know me inside and out and still like me! We have our inside jokes and confidential secrets that will always 'stay at the table'. It's special relationships like this that make us feel so loved. "The Red Glasses" symbolize so much depth of friendship that I will always treasure. We have laughed so hard til our sides split and usually it's about nothing at all but we laugh anyway. I thank God for the gift of friends!! And.....now that we are spread all over the world, making new lifelong friends.....I'm thankful for technology that we can still get together for a moment to 'share a cup of virtual tea'.

Look what I can do on my new iPhone! This is my shop site, right here on my phone in my hand. "Dear iPhone, If lovin' you is wrong I don't wanna be right!" What an amazing piece of technology!!!!
I can skype face to face from my phone to any computer without wi-fi! Amazing! That means I can actually SEE the person and they can SEE me!! Is that cool, or what! And, in wi-fi, I can talk face to face with my husband from my phone to his phone!!

I know this is not so new to many but, to me, it's sooooooo new and exciting!!!!! Yipee! Here are my favorite aps:

Hello 2011!! + New Word for the Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 2011 is here! I decided I wanted to have a "word" to help me focus for the new year. I guess instead of a New Year's Resolution, I have a New Year's Word.

It's amazing what a difference the turn of a calendar page Dec 31st to Jan 1st can make...one day but such a significant day. Fresh starts, new beginnings, time to renew. What is YOUR word for the year????
